You will play as a county magistrate appointed in times of crisis, taking charge of a border county in ruins. Faced with famine, banditry, harsh governance and displaced people, you must make choices amid numerous crises, lead this small town to rise again from the ruins, and seek a glimmer of survival in this turbulent era.

As the local governor, your primary duty is to govern people’s livelihood. The civilian system in the game shows the real lives of ordinary people in troubled times. You need to pay attention to public sentiment, assign corvée labor, adjust grain prices and comfort displaced refugees. Every policy you issue will directly affect public support. Unstable public sentiment will make people flee; with popular support, civilians will voluntarily repair city walls, cultivate farmlands, and even stand up to defend the county in times of danger.

In troubled times, intelligence is the key to survival. The game’s unique spy system acts as your eyes and ears, allowing you to perceive everything around you. You can send spies to infiltrate enemy camps, penetrate local noble clans, or investigate the movements of surrounding forces. The intelligence they bring back will serve as a vital basis for you to formulate strategies and resolve crises. The warehouse system is your lifeline: manage grain, wood, ore, armaments and other supplies properly, balance income and expenditure, and withstand the dual trials of famine and warfare. When resources run short, you can trade with other towns to exchange limited goods for survival.
