About game

The seal was meant to hold forever. Tonight, someone broke it.

Beneath Castle Veyrand, something stirs that was locked away a thousand years ago — a woman who learned to fuse all six elemental orders into one. The six orders sealed her together. Now the seal is open. Two heretics are all that stand between the kingdom and whatever she has become.

What is The Heretic's Seal?

The Heretic's Seal is a party-based dungeon crawler RPG in a dark fantasy setting. You choose two characters from twelve heretic classes, each wielding elemental power deemed too dangerous by the orders that cast them out. Together, you descend into procedurally generated dungeons across 25 floors, fighting enemies, gathering loot, levelling up, and unravelling the truth behind the seal — until you die, regroup, and try again. But unlike other dungeon crawlers, everything you earn stays with you.

Key Features

  • 12 Heretic Classes, 66 Party Combinations — Choose from 8 base classes available from the start, plus 4 elite classes unlocked through play. Every pairing creates a fundamentally different playstyle.

  • Your Progress Is Permanent — Equipment, gold, and character levels persist between every run. Only the dungeon layout resets.

  • 25 Dungeons, 4 Bosses — Floors escalate in difficulty and atmosphere.

  • 600+ Items With Set Bonuses — Ten equipment slots per character, hundreds of items, and full set bonuses.

  • Six Elements, Deep Synergies — Fire, Water, Nature, Light, Shadow, and Arcane interact in ways that reward experimentation.

  • Flexible Skill Trees — Three branches per class (Combat, Defense, Utility), fully respeccable at any time.

  • NPCs With Stories — Characters you meet across runs remember you, develop, and reveal pieces of the larger mystery.

  • Replayable by Design — With 66 party combinations, procedural floors, 600+ items, and branching NPC storylines.

The Party System — Why Two Heretics?

Most party RPGs give you a full roster. The Heretic's Seal gives you two.

This constraint is intentional. With two characters, every ability matters. Every skill point is felt. When your Shadow Cultist runs low on resources, you need your second heretic to carry the gap — and which heretic that is changes everything.

66 meaningful combinations means the game has a different answer every time you ask "what should I play next?" An Arcane Scholar and a Water Shaman play around status effects and crowd control. A Fire Invoker and a Light Paladin are a burst damage pair that burns bright and dies fast. Pair two elite classes and you'll face a different dungeon entirely — higher risk, higher reward.

The party selection screen is where The Heretic's Seal begins. Not when you step into the dungeon.

Your Progress Stays — This Is Not a Roguelike

When you die in The Heretic's Seal, you don't lose your characters.

Your equipment is still equipped. Your gold is still in your pocket. Your characters are still the level they reached. The dungeon layout resets — procedurally generated fresh — but you return to it stronger than you left.

Death is a setback, not a reset. It means you weren't ready yet. The game gives you tools, time, and freedom to prepare differently. Respec your skill trees. Hunt for better gear in the early floors. Complete an NPC's quest for a reward that changes your build.

If you enjoy roguelikes, you may enjoy The Heretic's Seal. If you've bounced off roguelikes because losing progress frustrates you, this game was made with you in mind.

RPG Depth — Items, Skills, and Elements

Each character has 10 equipment slots — head, chest, legs, hands, feet, main hand, off hand, ring, amulet, and a class-specific relic slot. With 600+ items in the pool, floor drops rarely feel like duplicates, and set bonuses create meaningful decision points.

Skill trees branch in three directions per class. Combat branches push offensive power. Defense branches extend survivability. Utility branches add flexibility — mobility, resource management, crowd control. You can respec freely, which means the "right" build is whatever the current dungeon demands.

Six elements underpin every fight. Enemies have elemental affinities. Your skills have elemental types. Building a party that covers multiple elements isn't just smart — on the deeper floors, it's survival.

The World of Veyrand — Moral Ambiguity Included

The six elemental orders didn't seal the woman because she was evil.

They sealed her because she was right — or close enough to right that it scared them. A thousand years later, the orders still teach the official history. The NPCs you meet in the dungeon survived by refusing to believe it.

The Heretic's Seal is a dark fantasy game with no clear villains. The woman beneath the castle had a legitimate grievance. The orders that imprisoned her had legitimate fears. You are a heretic yourself — cast out by the same powers that built the seal. What you find at the bottom of the dungeon will not be simple.

Explore the world. Question the history. Choose who to trust.
