VantGrid is voice and text chat between friends, with no central server snooping in the middle. Unlike most chat apps —where every word you say passes through someone else's cloud— here your voice, your files, and your screen travel directly from your device to your friends'. Peer-to-peer, encrypted, and nobody's but yours.

No servers. Seriously.

VantGrid has no servers storing your conversations. It uses the open Nostr protocol only for the initial handshake — the moment two people find each other and connect. It's like swapping phone numbers: once you both have the contact, the call goes straight between you.

Privacy by default, not as an add-on

Your identity is a cryptographic keypair (secp256k1). Your address never reveals your IP. Your private key is encrypted locally (AES-256-GCM) and never leaves your machine. No phone number. No email. No forms. Just you and the people you choose.

Honest about bugs

When the code actually breaks —a crash, a failure— VantGrid can let us know via Sentry so we fix it fast. It's opt-in and OFF by default, and even when you turn it on, it strips any personal data before sending anything. We only "phone home" when the code literally fails — and even then your messages and your identity never leave your device. Trust over surveillance, always.

Yours forever — and honest about the future

VantGrid's core is a one-time purchase: pay once, yours forever. No subscription, no monthly fees, no servers to keep alive. How can we promise that? Because the P2P core needs none of our servers to work — your connection travels straight between you and your friends. There's nothing to charge you monthly for something that runs on your own network. It works in full from day one, and your purchase never expires or degrades.

And if you want to go further, an optional Plus add-on is coming later — for a small monthly fee. Why monthly and not a one-time purchase? Because Plus includes a dedicated relay that we keep running 24/7, and a server costs money every single month. We'd rather tell you that to your face —the same way we're honest about bugs— than hide a recurring cost behind a "one-time" purchase that wouldn't really be one.

What does that dedicated relay add? Faster, more stable initial handshakes (especially where public relays lag or get congested), which means connections that link on the first try, larger file sharing between friends, animated avatars, and deeper customization. And most importantly: that dedicated relay, just like the public ones, only speeds up the initial handshake — it never sees, stores, or transfers your content. Your voice and your files still travel straight between you and your friends, always. The monthly fee pays for the server that does the handshake, not for your conversations.
